With performances from the likes of Beyonce, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams the 2014 BRIT Awards saw some of the biggest and most celebrated artists in the world come together in the name of musical recognition.
Surfing the tidal wave of global superstars that night were two of the youngest and most ferociously buzz-worthy acts to storm the international music stage the past year- Disclosure and Lorde.
Disclosure’s 2013 debut album ‘Settle’ successfully fused the intelligent and dynamic sounds of the underground scene from which they originated from, with slick vocal hooks and an expansive pop feel. Happening almost simultaneously, only on the other side of the world in New Zealand, 17 year old Lorde was witnessing her single ‘Royals’ explode out the confides of her native country and reach the #1 spot on the U.S Billboard charts.
Flanked either side by legends of international music at a packed O2 Arena, the three prodigies took to the stage to stamp their mark into an evening already bursting at the seams with anticipation. Disclosure’s euphoric, futuristic tinkering of Lorde’s world beater ‘Royals’ set a standard which even long standing BRIT performers would recognize- setting the sky above London ablaze with collaborative genius.
