Island Life 2017 – 24 Hours In The Life of Island Records

09/06/2017

This June saw Island Records & friends take to our favourite retreat, Osea Island, for a 24 hour music-filled, sun-drenched getaway for 500 invited guests across all sections of the music media.

Kicking things off on the music side of things, Joe Fox, Sigrid & Oh Wonder delivered stunning, stripped-back performances in the glorious sunshine. Once the sun set, high octane performances from Angel, Donae’o, Bossman Birdie & Fekky took things up a notch, building to this year’s headline act, Sean Paul.

Island curated the perfect event to bring all elements of the label together. Managing director Jon Turner says, “Island is always doing something different and unique which is sympathetic to the Island ethos and all our acts. Who could resist a 24-hour Island getaway only 90 minutes from London? It’s an opportunity for all our artists to meet and socialise with all people across the industry.”

No fewer than 27 Island bands and artists attended as well actors, journalists models, and brand contacts.  Throughout the day, the Reebok Classics vinyl lounge pumped out classic albums in an exclusive setting, giving out limited edition pieces as they went. Meanwhile, Melody VR delivered a stunning virtual reality experience to anyone lucky enough to get their hands on a headset. Four experiences were available to choose from, from Island artists Youngr, Oh Wonder, Aquilo and Sigrid.

This isn’t the first time that Island has taken over Osea, we held the event for the first time in 2015, with The Weeknd landing by helicopter to perform a majestic set. Food was provided by London street food doyens Patty & Bun, Bob’s Lobster and Mama’s Jerk while guests had the chance to take on Dancehall legend Sean Paul on the tennis courts, explore the island on bikes, check out the VR experience and generally get away from the hustle of the normal working week.
