Massive congratulations to  Jessie Ware and Ben Howard who have both been shortlisted for this year's Mercur Music Prize!!

Jessie's beautiful Devotion was released to rapturous reviews just a few weeks ago, racing its way up the charts to make number 5 in its debut week, and what an absolute beauty it is. One listen and it's easy to see why it's been shortlisted.

In contrast, Ben's album Every Kingdom was released nearly a year ago and yet incredibly it's still in the album chart top 40!  A massive achievement for someone who's also managed to remain relatively under-the-radar (although we suspect that this might be about to change).

The winner will be announced on 1st November. Fingers crossed for them both.
