Island Artists at The BRITs: Drake, The Weeknd & Sean Paul

This year’s BRIT Award nominations have now been announced, and the buzz and excitement escalates in the weeks leading up to one of the biggest events in the British music industry’s calendar can now begin! It’s been a spectacular twelve months for so many of our artists, and we’re pleased to announce that our roster is being well-represented in the BRIT Award Nominees list 2016.

The first Island artist nominated for Best International Male Solo Artist is The Weeknd. Having released his fourth studio album ‘STARBOY‘ late in 2016, the Canadian vocalist and producer smashed Spotify streaming records; placing all eighteen album tracks in Spotify’s coveted Top 50 Global Chart, as well as racking up the most streams for a single artist in one day.

We’re also delighted to be able to congratulate Drake on his nomination for Best International Male Solo Artist.  2016 saw the rapper dominate the charts and smash records the world over, setting a new first week streaming record with ‘VIEWS‘, and with THE single of the year ‘One Dance’ becoming the most-streamed song ever on Spotify.

2016 also saw huge success for ‘Rockabye’, an infectious track that came about as a collaboration between Clean Bandit, Anne-Marie and our very own Sean Paul. The track opened up at number 3 on the official chart, and registered over 12k Shazam tags in its first 8 hours! The track is nominated for both Best British Single and Best British Artist Video, vote for it now by clicking here.
