Sam Calver

Hailing from Hastings and poised to make his mark on the music scene, up-and-coming UK singer-songwriter Sam Calver has steadily been building a strong following in his hometown where he has performed to almost 20,000 people over the last year and now, following a recent collaboration with The Wildcatz, he releases his debut single ‘Midnight’ which premiered on 1883.

Effortlessly mixing his infectious and incredibly soulful vocal prowess with poignant lyricism and mesmerising melodies, ‘Midnight’ has also been brought to life with a must-see visual that was shot in Sam’s hometown and features the venue where he played his first ever gig and the house he was living in when he wrote the single and more upcoming music.

On the track and video, Sam Calver said: “’Midnight’ was actually written and recorded in my bedroom in Hastings. It was a defining moment for me after years of floating between genres, it felt like I had finally found my sound. It’s also the first piece of music I’ve ever officially released so I’m super excited for everyone to hear it!”

We shot the video for it in Hastings as that’s my hometown and where I grew up. My music career started here too, gigging throughout the town on the local music scene.”

Sam recently showcased his arrival as one of the UK’s brightest new music talents when he posted an acoustic performance of his track ‘Midnight’ on YouTube. The show-stopping performance swiftly caught the attention of writing and production team The Wildcatz – born out of the now defunct dubstep/grime production group True Tiger (London Grammar, Enter Shikari, Riz MC, Ed Sheeran and Snoop Dogg) – who approached Sam and ended up reproducing the track, lacing it with their signature bass heavy, trip-hop influenced sounds.

With the release of his new single and the promise of more new music in the coming weeks, Sam Calver is ready to unleash his dynamic, one of a kind sound to the world and with music tastemakers already taking note, his is definitely one to watch!
